C'mon! We're all going to die; die standing up!
With the flags waving and fireworks bursting in air, here are my favorite patriotic movies. Some of these really resonated with my growth and development of living overseas during the cold war.
These are movies that make me proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
- Red Dawn
- Rocky IV
- Patton
- Sergeant York
- Rambo: First Blood Part II
- (Escape to) Victory
- Platoon
- The Right Stuff
- We Were Soldiers
- Glory
- Miracle
- Men of Honor
- Top Gun
- An Officer and a Gentleman
- Patriot Games
- Stripes
- Firefox
- Missing in Action
- Red Heat
- Spies Like Us

The Great Escape!
Gunny,
I'm disappointed in you. How could you forget The Guns of Navarone, The Dirty Dozen, The Longest Day, Full Metal Jacket, Taps, A Bridge Too Far and The Bridge on the River Kwai?
My all time favorite is Sergeant York, followed by The Great Escape. Of late, Behind Enemy Lines has become very special to me. I haven't seen Iwo Jima, yet, though. selahV
Loved Miracle and We Were Soldiers.
When you find time to watch Band of Brothers, it will be #1 in your patriotic mini-series category.
One more thing Gunny --- The Patriot with Mel Gibson! That's like THE 4th of July movie!
