One thing is true of all governments - their most reliable records are tax records.

Happy Tax Day!

"Now, our opponents tell us not to worry about their tax increases. They tell you they’re not going to tax your family. No, they’re just going to tax businesses. So unless you buy something from a business, like groceries or clothes or gasoline, or unless you get a paycheck from a business, a big business or a small business, don’t worry, it’s not going to affect you. They say they’re not going to take any water out of your side of the bucket, just the other side of the bucket." -Fred Thompson

All taxes trickle down to the consumer... one way or another.

Sometimes i wish i was in college and could participate in a study that tracks and documents, say the production of a car.

The mining (or recycling) of the base materials... what are the taxes on the salaries of the workers? What about the taxes on the product being extracted? The sold to the manufacturer of the "blanks", etc. Then the resale to the production of the individual parts, then the the assembly of the car, the transportation of the car, the sale of the car, and finally the registration of the car.

All costs are added into the cost to the consumer... thus the end consumer is the one paying all of the taxes.

A Scottish Baptist preacher once started a sermon with the following statement:

"There are only two things that are certain in life --- are death and taxes."

Really can't deny that .... :ob

I'd also be interested in a comprehensive study of how many times the same money is taxed. The money is taxed as the employer pays it to you. You will pay tax on that money to the IRS in both FICA & Social Security. You will pay tax on that money when spent to buy something. Any of that money leftover will be taxed when left to your children as inheritance tax, etc.
