Our choices are what make us who we are. We always have the choice to do what's right.

Don't even try to call him a racist!

I'm confused. Your first line out of the gate is a racist teaser comment. Why? Sounds like you are borrowing the man's race and opinion to support your opinion. That's not very logical unless your opinion lacks credibility.

Thanks for the comment, MNO, though to be honest I had to do a double take because your comment seemed a bit of a non sequitor to me.

First, I'm not sure what a racist teaser comment is, but I'll attempt to explain why I said, "Don't even try to call him a racist!"

It's rather common, especially as of late, to label as one who criticizes President Obama as a racist. In other words, the "real" reason the person is against President Obama is because he/she doesn't like black people (i.e., and NOT related to the administration's policies, etc.).

Well, as the bishop is a black man himself, it rather nullifies that red herring and ad hominem approach. Of course, there are other derogatory names given to black folk who don't support the Democrat party or President Obama.

"Sounds like you are borrowing the man's race and opinion to support your opinion."

I'm not sure what you mean by that. But my intention was to show that one could have other reasons for opposition that have nothing to do with skin color.

I guess I could have articulated all of that, but I feel it would have robbed the effect of letting the bishop (and the example that he is) speak on its own without commentary.

As for my opinion lacking credibility, I concede that, especially in this scenario as I'm inherently not qualified to make such a comment because of the color of my skin.

But, to be fair, my opinion has no credibility in and of itself anyway and my political rationale is not necessarily congruent with the bishop's.
